Playing a match
Rounds and scoring
A round has three outcomes: you win it, they win it, or it is a push.
Pushes
A push means nobody gains from the round. It happens when both players call the same way, and when a candle closes exactly where it opened, because then no direction was right. Pushes are common, and they are why a best of 3 does not always end after three rounds.
The contract keeps score
The contract counts wins itself, one round at a time, and ends the match the moment someone reaches the wins the format needs. It never takes a match winner as an input. That is deliberate: the result is derived from the rounds, not declared by anyone.
If regulation ends level, the match goes to sudden death.
