Pools

How pools work

Yes or no questions about the Fomo leaderboard. You bet ETH on a side. The side that is right shares the other side's bets.

You put 1 ETH on Yes. If Yes wins, you get your 1 ETH back plus 1/6 of the No side after the fee: 1.66 ETH.

What the slip shows

  • What your bet pays if nothing else changes, with your bet counted in.
  • It moves as others bet: more money on your side pays less, more on the other side pays more.
  • The smallest bet is 0.001 ETH.

From bet to payout

Hit pools

  • Ask whether a line is reached at any point before the close.
  • Yes the first time a board shows it. No if no board has by the close.
  • Bets stay open until the hit or the close.
  • Bets placed after the last board that did not show the hit are refunded: someone watching Fomo live could have seen it first.

Boards come every few minutes. The bet in the gap before the hit comes back in full.

What a pool can ask

  • A trader's place on the board: inside the top N or not.
  • A trader's 24h PnL: at or above a line or not.
  • Two traders, or two clans: which one ends higher.

When a pool is called off

  • No fresh board arrives within 20 minutes of the close.
  • A name matches more than one row on the board.
  • Both sides finish exactly level.
  • A clan is missing from the board, or a trader's PnL cannot be placed against the line.
  • Nobody bet on one of the sides.
  • A hit came after the board had been quiet for more than 25 minutes, so the late bets cannot be told apart.
  • The answer is stopped during the 45-minute check.

A called-off pool refunds every bet in full, with no fee.

The 45-minute check

An answer waits 45 minutes on the chain before it pays. In that time Motion can stop a wrong answer. Stopping it refunds every bet. It cannot send the pot to anyone else.

Collect within 180 days of the pool ending. After that, what nobody collected can be taken by Motion.
